More than 1,200 students from 32 school districts got a hands-on look at future careers during the 2026 GLOW With Your Hands Manufacturing Career Exploration Event at the Genesee County Fairgrounds.

More than 70 employers and post-secondary partners helped students explore careers in advanced manufacturing, agriculture, skilled trades, construction, transportation, engineering, public service and other high-demand fields.

And “hands-on” really means hands-on. Students welded, operated tools and equipment, climbed onto tractors, explored agricultural drones, experienced careers through virtual reality and even interacted with a robotic dog similar to technology used in modern manufacturing.

Now in its seventh year, GLOW With Your Hands brings together schools, businesses, workforce organizations and community partners from across Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties. The goal is simple: give students the opportunity to experience careers for themselves and connect with the people and organizations that can help them take the next step.

For students, those next steps might include Career and Technical Education, college, an apprenticeship, additional training or going directly into the workforce. Most importantly, the event helps young people see the range of opportunities available right here in the GLOW region.
